These three projects come from the proposal inside the Surtido collective for the shoe brand Vialis “Cualquier cosa menos un zapato” (Anything but a shoe). Everything created by the designers (not a shoe or accessory) should rely on the brand’s philosophy and be made out of a kit provided by Vialis with their own materials, leather, laces, soles, …
BACKINSIDE are simply a meditation project. A packaging to return meet back into its original case, to emphasize its real origins. And claiming for attention on the fact that leather belongs to those animals bred for food.
OUCH!! Alias Self-indulgence. Treat yourself to a light whip. But for god’s sake, not with your house slippers! Take a luxury one with the finest leathers. Irony about the most fetishist aspect from shoes; we’ve substituted elegant high-heeled shoes for slim man shoe soles and expecting the user to punish himself/herself with a device with the oddest aspect as a torture machine.
GO AWAY is a very straight forward object breathing from “Ready-made”. A shoe with a minimum transformation to become a hanger to leave your jacket, handbag, newspaper, cap, … when getting home.
